Tally Keeper's Report, Crazy Eights Tribe, April 28-30, 2006 Spring Outing The Crazy Eights Tribe went to Camp Seagull for Spring Outing April 28th through April 30th. April 28th: ---------- The tribe met in Raleigh to start the caravan Eastward to Camp Seagull. We travelled to Kinston where we enjoyed Eastern North Carolina Barbeque, fried chicken, and all the fixin's. Then the tribe saddled back up and continued to Camp. At camp, the tribe unloaded the saddle bags, and went to share ice cream with the 700 other braves and princesses at the camp. After dark, several princesses saw their first shooting stars while looking at the big, clear skies over the mighty Neuse river. Eventually, the tribe settled in for a cold, short night's sleep. April 29th: ----------- At the crack of dawn, the princesses sprung out of bed. Swimming Wolf was the last to roll out of his bunk. The tribe proceeded to the Mess Hall, where we watched the flag raising ceremony. Then we walked calmly into the mess hall and sat down to a hearty breakfast of sausage, eggs, biscuits, cereal, milk, orange juice, and of course, grits. After breakfast, it was time for activities. All the princesses were able to participate in archery, riflery (with BB guns), shark tooth sifting, fishing, the ITT bus, swimming in the chilly pond, the big water slide, crafts, and best of all, the Zip Line! We enjoyed a kick-ball game with another tribe, as well. Activities were briefly interrupted for a lunch of pizza, salad, and cake. As the afternoon grew later, the princesses retreated to our scenic cabin on the Neuse River bank, where they rode their bikes, played ball, and walked on the beach. Just before dinnertime, we had a brief meeting, and the following feathers were earned: Shooting Star: Orange Feather (dinner for mom) Sly Fox: Red Feather (names), green feather (crafts) Prancing Squirrel: White Feather (camping out in the cabin friday night!) Prancing Coyote: Green feather (crafts) Shining Star: Red Feather (names), Turquoise feather (pledge), white feather (camping out friday night!) Singing Flower: Green feather (crafts) Thunder Cub: Red Feather (names), Turquise feather (pledge) After the meeting, the tribe enjoyed a dinner of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls, and apple pie. Prizes were handed out for the largest fish caught, the largest and smallest sharks teeth found, and several other competitions. Other tribes won all the prizes this year, but we'll get some next year. Following dinner, there was a bonfire with songs and storytelling and a terrific fireworks show. The tribe went to bed and fell asleep quickly. April 30th: ----------- After a little later wake-up time, the tribe enjoyed Krispy-Kreme doughnuts and hot chocolate. Then there was time for a few more activities, and we loaded up and headed out. Thanks for a great Spring Outing, and a great first year!
